Progressive auto insurance has introduced a new program in Georgia called My Rate

My Rate is a transmitter device that's plugged into your car and monitors your driving habits. This device gives Georgia policy holders the chance to prove that they are a "better than average" driver and for doing so they can 
save big.
The device monitors and reports what time of day you drive, how often you drive and driving habits like fast starts and stops. Fast starts and stops indicate you tailgate or drive less safely than the average driver. And late night driving from 12am to 5am indicates driving during higher risk times. Statistically the riskiest time of day to drive when the worst accidents occur is from 12am to 5am.
One very cool feature of My Rate 
is that during the initial monitoring period the user can log into www.progressiveagent.com and monitor their day by day usage and whether they are on track for a discount or not.
So literally, if a driver normally does not go into Atlanta and is on track for a great discount but has to travel into the worst traffic spot in the south
and the driver has a bad day, the customer can log into the website the next day and see how the bad driving affected his projected discount. Very neat, huh?
After six months of monitoring, Progressive takes a look 
at your driving data and their computers determine which discount you can get. Progressive could ask you to keep the device for 6 additional months but will not be required to keep the device for more than 12 months.
Progressive can not raise your rates or drop you based on what they find... so you have nothing to lose by trying.
Progressive is introducing My Rate in Georgia with a special offer:
For a limited time, Progressive will not charge Georgia customers for the first six months period to monitor the device and report the discount you might qualify for.
If you are required to keep the device for another 6 month term, Progressive will charge you five dollars a month.
However, if Progressive requests you keep the device for another term and you haven't proved that you are a "Better Than Average" driver, and you are not projected to receive a discount, and therefore don't want to keep the device and begin paying for it, simply return the device and you won't be charged. 
That's a good deal.
And there's an added bonus for Parents. You will be able to monitor online your child's driving habits, though it is not GPS device. You would get the same information about your child's driving habits that Progressive gets.
