Well, if any of you BeelerBloggers follow me on facebook , Chris Beeler (Cedartown, GA), you would know that while using my camper at a campground in Daytona Beach the wind blew a tree on to my camper and destroyed it; check out the photos below.

I insured it with Progressive but when I started the policy I chose some important options over and above the basic policy. I elected to pay a small additional premium (8%) for "Agreed Value" coverage. This option allowed me to name a total insurance value of my camper so that if a total loss were to occur (as it did with me) Progressive would pay the stated policy value plus sales tax and not on the depreciated NADA "book value" (like a standard policy would).
So, in my case the "book value" of my camper was $2,300 but I had $3,500 in the camper. So, I requested the "Agreed Value" coverage. Doing so paid me and additional $1,200 plus tax (an additional $245) over the standard "Actual Cash Value" policy.
Last but not least, my Progressive policy also has a travel expense benefit. This coverage provides me up to $2,000 for accommodations because I had this claim more than 50 miles away from home. So, my wife and I are now at the Days Inn enjoying a beach front room & Progressive is picking up the tab.
This is now the view from our hotel. How nice!!!
Last but not least I want to compliment Progressive on their response time. The claim was reported at 4pm in the evening and a camper claims specialist was at my came site by 8:30am the next morning. He was a Florida adjuster and my policy is in Georgia so he quickly coordinated the differences in the coverages between the two states, took plenty of photos, and by 9:30am was preparerd to write a claims settlement check for full policy value.
So, take it from me. Be sure your camper insurance is based on "Agreed Value" and not "Actual Cash Value" and that you insure with Progressive. Email me with any questions you may have at chris@beelerinsurance.com Oh, by the way, you can get your Progressive policy through Beeler Insurance.
Have a great day and I'll be posting again soon.
